Japan and ww1
Japan entered in to World War 1 by sending an ultimatum to Germany, which they did not respond to, so Japan declared war on Germany on August 23rd, 1914. Japan also declared war on Austria-Hungary since Vienna refused to withdraw their cruiser from Tsingtao. Japan gained land in Northeastern China and the Pacific Islands. At the Gallipoli Campaign, British and French forces united to capture Constantinople and secure a Russian sea route. However, this effort failed, creating heavy casualties on both sides. This victory for the Turks was seen as a defining moment for its people
U.S. and ww1
The U.S. was brought into World War 1 for multiple reasons. On May 7th, 1915, a German submarine sank a British passenger liner containing 128 U.S. citizens, causing great tensions. Then on April 2nd, President Woodrow Wilson urged the U.S. to participate in the war to "protect democracy", however, this act was criticized and was said to be used as an excuse to make an economic profit.
